Delacoute (20th century) . Smoothly surfaced, the ground and sky in this village scene have the appearance of being airbrushed, with no visibility of the artist's hand. Dark and thin trees fill the scene as their branches stretch out, lined with snow; small rural houses have snow blanketed roofs as a man and woman carry baskets to the well. Simply and illustratively delineated, the primitiveness of this painting adds charm to an already quiet and idyllic scene. The artist has taken license with the rendering of blue and red bushes, as he has with the sky, which is florescent yellow. A beguiling painting, this unique piece would serve as a wonderful addition to any collection. We are proud to offer it in a true $9.99 No Reserve auction. The image is signed by the artist in the lower center. It measures 12" x 16" and 14" x 18" in a custom made modern gallery frame. Condition report: The painting is in great condition.
