"UNTOUCHED" NOT MANY OF THESE LEFT AROUND. BRASS EYES AND BRIDLE ROSETTES. ALL ORIGINAL PAINT AND FINISH; NOTHING HAS BEEN TOUCHED, CHANGED OR ALTERED SINCE THE TOY WAS PRODUCED. STRUCTURALLY, THE HORSE IS SOUND, TIGHT AND FREE OF ROT AND IS STURDY. OF COURSE YOU COULD RESTORE AND WOULD NEED THE TAIL HAIR ETC, BUT IT IS FABULOUS JUST AS IT IS. OF ALL THE WHITNEY REED GLIDER TYPE HORSES I HAVE SEEN, THIS ONE SEEMS TO BE THE OLDEST AND MOST ANATOMICALLY CORRECT. CHECK OUT THE HIND LEGS COMPARED TO OTHER WOODEN HORSES. VERY REALISTIC. I HAVE TAKEN GOOD PHOTOS, SO I AM NOT GOING TO DESCRIBE MUCH PART OF THE CRADLE IS IN POOR CONDITION. THE MAIN STRUCTURE IS SOUND, BUT ONE A COUPLE OF THE WOOD STRUTS ARE SOFT AND NEED REPLACING. HARDWARE IS GOOD. THIS COULD MAINLY BE USED AS A TEMPLATE TO MAKE ANOTHER, I THINK. WHITNEY REED IS THE MANUFACTURER AND IS ONE OF AMERICA'S FIRST AND A PREMIER TOY MAKING COMPANY AND WAS LOCATED IN LEOMINSTER MASSACHUTCHETS (sp). THIS IS PROBABLY TURN OF THE CENTURY HORSE AND GLIDER WORK OF THEIRS. THE OVERALL MEASUREMENTS, FULLY ASSEMBLED IS 44" LONG, 36" HIGH AND 16" WIDE. VERY COLLECTIBLE, PRIMITIVE AND ORIGINAL. GREAT PIECE OF EARLY AMERICANA AND OF THE FIRST FROM AN ORGANIZED MANUFACTURER OF CHILDS TOYS.
