Primitive Wooden Egg Carrier. For your consideration is a cool old hardwood egg crate/carrier. This came right off a farm. I purchased this from another dealer who recently bought out a farm estate up in northern Michigan. This is what they used to use to pick up the eggs from the chicken coop way back when! I have a larger version complete with the original egg cartons for sale too shown in one of the pictures; that one was probably for commercial use. This one was likely for the family use since it is smaller in size. It stands 8.25 inches tall and is 8.25 inches wide. This one is a bit easier to open and close too. It still has some leftover hay and chicken feed stuck to the bottom of it, and there is one gouge out of the wood in the bottom of this crate. A very cool primitive item for your collection! You won't find too many of these around anymore! I like to display items like this in front of the fireplace, near the mantle, and even out in my yard in a country cupboard I placed out there just for the summer months! I have also seen them with artificial flowers in them; ceramic eggs, etc.!
