It's a gorgeous tool in an old Continental tradition. For sale is a Primus Smooth Plane by E.C. Emmerich. It has a European-style wood body with a superb blade clamping mechanism. The spring-loaded clamp secures the blade and prevents backlash. The woodworker maintains precise control of blade extension with depth adjustment wheel. A lateral lever adjusts the blade to remain parallel to sole. The beechwood body is 8-1/2" long and 2-1/2" wide, with lignum vitae sole for a natural smooth, low-friction cutting stroke. Body has tapped holes in both sides for optional mounting of a user-supplied fence. Gently used chrome-Vanadium cutting iron is 1-7/8 wide and is virtually full, original length.
