This is a super find!! ABSOLUTELY & TOTALLY MINT...Guernsey's auction catalog for the "Diana, Princess of Wales Swan Lake Suite". This is the name given to the fabulous necklace worn only once by Diana to her favorite ballet. The earrings had not yet been completed so she had no chance to wear them before her untimely death just a few months later.The auction for the completed set of necklace and earrings was held in New York City on December 16, 1999. This is the auction catalog that accompanied that sale. It measures approx 9" x 9". The pages and the pictures are all glossy white and smooth. The colors are sharp and clear. Purple is the theme of the book and t is a "D" at the corners of some of the pages. I wanted to point out that inside t is a wonderful copy of the actual invitation to the Swan Lake Ballet: The Royal Gala Committee and the Board of Governors of English National Ballet request the pleasure of your company at The Royal Gala Performance of Derek Deune's "Swan Lake" in the gracious presence of Diana, Princess of Wales Patron, English National Ballet Royal Albert Hall Tuesday, June 3, 1997This issue includes lots of great text and superb photographs that are of such good quality they could be the real thing. Diana as a young girl and as a proud royal figure on public duty..as a humanitarian dressed in khakis..among the children she loved..but especially the ones of Diana wearing those jewels that night. The ice blue shift with that summer tan made the perfect background for such elegant jewels. Within the writings you will get stories of her gowns, jewels and even her Jimmy Choo shoes!The photos of the jewels themselves are simply stunning! PLEASE NOTE THAT IN TRANSFERRING THE PHOTOS THE PEARLS APPEAR TO BE A YELLOWISH COLOR..IN THE BOOK THIS IS NOT PRESENT. IN ACTUALITY, THE PEARLS ARE A PURE CREAMY WHITE..JUST WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM SOUTH SEAS PEARLS...Diana's favorites!No longer the future Queen, Diana was still going to take her special place in history as "The King Mother" and this particular suite of jewels was intended to be Diana's personal contribution to the Monarchy's Royal Jewels..to be treasured and handed down to the next generation..to her sons and their wives. Worn to her favorite ballet at Royal Albert Hall, June, 1997, it was admired by all who saw her wear it that night!With her death, the necklace which had been returned for matching the earrings, was sold to a Texas collector for his wife. She realized the value and special duty that came with ownership of these gems and agreed to sell them two years afterwards. One question: how do you find a guy like that??
