Featured is a lovely blue and creamy white 10 1/4âe Wedgwood College Series Plate âe" Princeton University 1930, McCosh Walk. It is one of the original 12 plate first series commemorative set imported from England by the University and sold by subscription through the Princeton Alumni Weekly in 1931. The original 2500 sets were in such demand that a resale market quickly increased the price of the set from $15 to $75-$100 (Brief summary from the description of the set in Princetonâe(tm)s Seeley G. Mudd Library). Today the individual plates often sell for well more than $100 each. The center picture is a long ago view of the tree-lined walk as it passes in front of an old row of halls. On the rim, around the center is a beautiful design of flowering vines. Imprinted on the back, barely picked up by our camera is the signature âeoeWEDGWOODâe, âeoeMADE IN ENGLANDâe and the date of manufacture âe" âeoe10L30âe (October 1930). The various blue colors of the plate are a treat to the eyes, not easily captured by our camera.
