Featured is a lovely blue and creamy white 10 1/4Â" Wedgwood College Series Plate Â- Princeton University 1930, Stony Brook Bridge. It is one of the original 12 plate first series commemorative set imported from England by the University and sold by subscription through the Princeton Alumni Weekly in 1931. The original 2500 sets were in such demand that a resale market quickly increased the price of the set from $15 to $75-$100 (Brief summary from the description of the set in PrincetonÂ's Seeley G. Mudd Library). Today the individual plates often sell for well more than $100 each. The center picture is a lovely view of the old bridge surrounded by trees and a mirror reflection in the water. On the rim, around the center is a beautiful design of flowering vines. Imprinted on the back, barely picked up by our camera is the signature Â"WEDGWOODÂ", Â"MADE IN ENGLANDÂ" and the date of manufacture Â- Â"2L31Â" (February 1931). The various blue colors of the plate are a treat to the eyes, not easily captured by our camera.
