heres my monogram 1949 mercury model ive customized inspired by Gene Winfield's "solar scene". i could go on and on about everything ive done to it, but i will let the photos do the talking here! its hard to tell in the pics but the color fades from dark teal on the bottom to candy green on top. the hood was molded to the body when i stretched the front-end 8 scale inches, the engine is under there. this model is more of a sculpture than a detailed model. there are plenty of guys offering super detailed models, im not one of those! the paint was allowed to fully cure 3 months before i wet-sanded every inch applied my favorite high-build clear coat. after sitting in my display case for a year or two, i wet-sanded every inch once again and polished it to the mirror-like wet look shine you can see in my pics. this finish wont shrink are crack like some other guys custom paint-jobs. just like my full-size cars are all metal, my models have NO FILLER PUTTY or heavy primers to shrink or crack. i build my stuff to be around and looking new for a long, long time. all trim is chrome foiled.
