Great Umpire Starter Kit E veryumpire has to begin at the same spot...doing "Rodeo Circuit" games,little appreciation and respect, and without equipment. However, unlike football, basketball, and soccer, Baseball umpires have to spend a LOT of money to get started. WHY??? Those of us that can make our umpiring profitable on the side know that you don't have to spend $1,000 on shiny new equipment to do 7-year-old little league games. This listing and another one that I'm hosting is perfect for the beginning umpire looking to break in his chops. T his item for sale is 2 seasons old. This was the first set I bought for myself when I joined the high school ranks. As such, this gear will work for all levels of high school and college ball. I have been smashed in the face with 80 mph fastballs, drilled in the heart with foul tips, and I've never regretted this purchase. The chest protector is extremely light-weight, breathes great, and is easy to strap up. The core of the item is hard Styrofoam and the shoulder pads are a thin hard plastic.
