PROTO 35064 CNW GP15-1 Locomotive #4409 Standard DC NIB I TOOK THE ENGINE OUT OF THE BOX AND TESTED IT ON MY LAYOUT. IT RAN AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS, FORWARD AND BACKWARDS..AND RUN AT ALL SPEED UP TO FULL POWER FORWARD AND BACKWARDS. THE LIGHT IS VERY REAL LOOKING ON THIS ENGINE. IT IS SMOOTH AND QUIET IN ITS OPERATION. PROTO 1000 CHICAGO & NORTH WESTERN GP15-1 LOCOMOTIVE #4409 New HO scale factory painted and assembled model of an EMD GP15-1 4-axle diesel locomotive with Internal Air Filters from Life Like PROTO 1000. Engine is powered and DCC Ready. Painted yellow and green for the Chicago & Northern Western RR. Road number 4409. Chicago System herald. Life Like/Walthers product number 35064. Comes in original box with all factory paperwork. Super 70s-Era Roadswitchers EMD introduced the GP15-1 in 1975 as a replacement for aging GP7s and GP9s still serving in switching, transfer and wayfreight service. Offering 1500 horsepower, the new design was better suited to the bigger and heavier cars then entering service, while the low nose improved forward visibility for added safety. As an added incentive, EMD required customers to provide a trade-in unit, which supplied traction motors, trucks and main generators, reducing the purchase price.
