This is a set of five antique demitasse cups & saucers with neoclassical images in lovely dress...marked in green Prov Saxe ES Germany. This mark was registered around 1902 and is most likely from the factory of Erdmann Schlegelmilch. Each cup is a rich burgundy color with a beautiful gold design pattern, gilded handle, a gold pattern on the inside rim and a gold design pattern framing the images on the front of the cup. There is also a raised pearl like pattern on the collar & cuffs of the clothes. The saucers are also burgundy with a gold design and a white & gold center. Two of the cups show a musical theme...a lady playing the mandolin, another singing holding her music book and the third is a man in splendid dress with hat on , also singing. They are in an outdoor scene. The full descriptions remain the same...except there are different activities in each of the remaining cups. The third cup...It appears the man with hat in hand has just delivered a letter to one of the ladies. The fourth cup...One lady is holding a fan, another is reading and the man is looking on. The fifth cup...The man has just brought a pink bouquet of flowers for each of the ladies. This set is in wonderful condition...except there is some age wear around the center of the saucers showing the white of the porcelain through the burgundy color...and some
