EXTREMELY RARE BOSTON/ISAIAH THOMAS EDITION collection of spiritual songs by the famous Issac Watts. The Printer, Isaiah Thomas, was a noted Revolutionary War vet, author, printer, and publisher and was close friends with many of America's founding figures, such as Benjamin Franklin, and noted publihser Mathew Carey. Thomas was also the first person to read the Declatration of Independence out loud to the new American public. Wrapped in a full leather homemade and stitched wrap that shows weathering and rounding but is still intact, and although the hinges have split, still holding pretty well. Contains both Psalms and Hymns, issued with separate title pages and separate pagination [Psalms has errors on page numbers on 223, and 293 (states 123 and 193)], however, book begins at page 5, missing the prelims and orginal title (the title to Hymns is still present). Interior shows heavier browning and use but in decent shape, some edge chipping and light tearing to some pages, pages rounded and worn on edges, some staining. read more
