You are biding on an exceptionnel and somptuous 131 pieces sterling silver flatware set. French silver: The more valuable silver all around the world. Puiforcat: A legend Each piece is ornate on both sides with typiccal rococo decors Louis XV. The fineness of the details is remarkable and attest an achievement innt in the mythical and prestigious Parisian Puiforcat factory. I own 12 dinner forks , 12 soup spoons, 12 dinner knives, 12 dessert or fish forks, 12 fish knives, 12 dessert spoons, 12 dessert knives, 12 sorbet spoons, 12 tee spoons (one tea spoon is of an other nearly pattern). 23 serving pieces. (see below weight and measurements) This set is presented in a five levels oak case. Antique silver always bears the marks of the age, but the general aspect is really beautifull. Some spoons do have some little bumps but rather insignificant. Not so visible, we guess only. All other pieces must be considered in pretty condition. The serving pieces are absolutely fabulous. they are 23 pieces like asparagus shovel, fish servers, carving set, bonbon set, soup and sauce ladle, ice cream servers, salt cellars with spoons. All pieces are sterling silver. Only the pierced asparagus shovel is silverplate but the handle is sterling. All pieces are Puiforcat but the salt cellars are Ravinet Denfert. Nevertheless, the salt spoons are Puiforcat. Have a look at the pictures, you will admire the pierced and engraved pieces... The fish knives are supposed beeing used with the dessert or salad fork. Fish forks did exist in this pattern but sometimes, people prefere use the small fork for many purposes. The measurements are absolutely convenient for fish. I purchased this set with this assortment, I suppose people didnt juged necessary to have forks for fish. The ice cream spoons have a curious shape (see pictures). You may use them for sorbet, oysters or pastry... The whole set is presented in a gorgeous and splendid antique oak case. The brass handles are fantastic. The five levels have been totally restaured. The lock is ok with the key. The total weight is 20 kilograms. For your personnal use, if you use the set frequently, maybe will you prefere not arrange the flatware set in the oak case, so you may install the five trays in your drawers ans use the oak case for something else. I did sell many french cutlery sets on ebay but this one is really one of the more exceptionnal thank of the 23 serving pieces and the case. And is id Puiforcat.
