"Happiness and Prosperity" Punch Paper Embroidery Motto In French Description: Offered for sale is an exceptionally fine and large punch paper motto with the motto, "Bonheur et Prosperité" (Happiness and Prosperity) in French. Punch paper mottos were a very popular form of embroidery kit in the late 19th century, and were widely sold. This large and nicely worked motto has been backed with tin foil to make it sparkle. The large motto in its original period frame measures 22 inches tall by 17 1/2 inches wide. It still has its original wood and gilt frame and wooden backing boards. Condition: The embroidery is in very good to excellent condition, with bright colors and almost no age toning or fading. Note that the paper is a little smaller than the frame so the tin backing shows at right and left. The frame has the veneer damaged on the right and left sides ot the frame.
