Chinese Purple Silk Embroidered Manchu Magua Jacket

T is black silk trim with colorful silk embroidered flowers and goldfish edging the entire jacket, along with a green and gold silk brocade fabric trim done in decorative scrolling cut work designs. This Manchu woman's short style jacket is called a magua (horse jacket) and has wide dramatic sleeves. T are carved brass buttons with decorative designs for closure down the front. The jacket is fully lined in blue linen, and has remnants of a paper label inside along with inked characters. See bottom photo for close-up. This unique short robe is all hand embroidered and hand stitched. It measures 27 inches long, with a 52 inch waist, chest and 26 inch wide sleeve cuffs.
