This is a model 1840 Cavalry scabbard! This scabbard will fit most all 1840 model Cavalry swords & swords with similar style blades with a blade length up to & including about 37". It is high quality steel, heavy duty, just like the originals & has a throat piece with spring clips that go down inside the throat.I special ordered in a few of these. (It only took a year & a half to get them). They are the exact same scabbard that comes on the new Ames marked 1840 Cavalry Swords. I can't stress how hard it is to find one of these on the loose!! If you have looked for one, you know what I am talking about. If you leave it outside, somewhere like in your yard for a while it will age up nicely & look like a vintage scabbard. You can age it to your liking this way to match your sword or leave it shiny new. If you don't have a scabbard for your sword, here is your chance. Make sure you measure your blade length before you purchase!! 37 3/4" overall & Should fit up to about a 37" blade and should fit most 1840 Cavalry swords. If your blade should happen to have a different curvature I would be happy to explain how to fit this scabbard to it. It's very easy to do. (although odds are it will fit without any adjustment at all) Very rare to find one of these scabbards on the loose! for more neat stuff.
