GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC FOR LIFE Quartz Mano Ball Hammerstone 4 1/4" X 3 3/4" - Gold mineral inclusion. Good polish, especially on one side. - Used in deep bedrock metate. - This artifact is from the Bergman Ranch in Aguanga, California. It is a Cahuilla Indian Artifact. - The current day location of the Cahuilla Indian Reservation is approximately 5 miles from the location w the Bergman Museum was from 1930 till 1993. - Mano's were used in the daily preparation and processing of food. - This quartz ball mano is 1 in 1000. It is made of extremely attractive local quartz material. - The beautiful material used in this artifact may indicate aspecial purpose use as most mano's wer mae from much more common material. - This is extremely hard material. A very small percentage of artifacts were made from his material. A creek that runs near Chihuahua valley road is the likely source for the material. Near this same creek, on private property, is a rock shelter with huge bedrock mortars, deep metates and gigantic fire scars on the bedrock evidencing 1000's of years of fires being built in the same exact spots. Nearby are pictographs that are thousands of years old. Because of this evidence and its proximity to the source material for this artifact, it was most likely picked up t by Mr. Bergman as he went about his ranching t It must have been amazing to have lived in that area at the time and have been the owner of such a beautiful place so full of such amazing history.
