Antique Britannia Silver Brandy Sauce Pan, 1702-3.
This is a great example of britannia silver made in London around this time. Keep in mind that Britannia silver is very soft (96.5% as opposed to sterling silver which is 92.5%) and anything that survives over 300 years in such great shape, especially with the hallmarks being legible, is remarkable. The brandy sauce pan stands 2 1/2" and is 8 1/4" from front lip to handle . Please look closely at the pictures! The condition over all is very good with a minor dings and a minor repair (a common repair w the handle joins the body). Hallmarks are on the outside near the handle and are complete and distinct with only the maker's mark being half way rub away . Workmanship is top quality and the silver has a very nice patina. The cool part of this item is that fire scale is still present as well as the hammer marks. As with older silver the silversmith worked the silver alot more. Consequently, hammering this object and folding the silver has left marks from the original construction of the piece. Beautiful. As stated t is NO RESERVE on this item but I will start the the bidding at $1000.00. PLEASE READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTION AND ASK ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BID. I accept Pay-Pal Only! Please make payment 3 days after the auction ends. Thank you
