You are viewing Handmade 18th Century Reproduction Queen Bedroom Set in solid Cherry. This is a superior quality and amazing handcrafted set. This set is for the quality conscious buyer. This beautiful set was handcrafted by Norman Jernigan of Dunn, North Carolina. This set has four pieces. The set includes a Tall Chest with Chippendale bracket feet. The Chest measures 63" H x 39.5" W x 21.25" D. It has 10 graduated drawers dove-tailed. The two side tables that each measure 24”L x 14 1/4”W x 32 1/2” H which is appropriate to the height of the bed. Each has one drawer and decorative cutouts at legs. The feet of the side tables match the feet of the bedstead called Inside Taper. The pulls are brass. See flyer (will email pdf if requested) that was kept depicting Norman Jernigan Pencil Post Beds. The bedstead Is H 85” including the finial. The headboard is fine finished on both sides. The flyer shows Pencil Post E. which he calls Inside Taper. The head board is drawing H-1. The beds are assembled with mortice tenon and bolt construction for the bedstead. Which are the sturdiest method devised. Iron brackets support the box spring. The two night stands have the same leg shape as the bed. Norman used solid cherry, no veneers and included the bottoms and backs of drawers and cabinet with cherry!!! Those surfaces are usually a less expensive wood compared to a finish piece. This set is timeless as the sleek lines of 3” taper posts are compatible formal, informal or contemporary design. This set was originally made about 1988 and has been used as treasured furniture. It does have some light scratches, small spots and an abrasion fingered in a photo on right side of Tall Chest see photo. The cost of this furniture is great for quality and longevity. You could not buy new handmade furniture for 3x this cost. Reason for selling-downsizing. The set does not include the mattress. This is a retired set as Mr. Jernigan has now passed away. He worked in a large barn behind his house. His bedsteads/bedrooms were not mass produced but individually crafted. He took pride that his fine pieces are heirloom quality for generations. Shown is Mr. Jernigan’s flyer, bed instructions and an advertisement he use to place in American Homes Magazine now called American Life. That magazines include the best journeyman in the field of early American furniture and housewares. This is a beautiful set for the historical reproduction and classic look for generations to come.
