I'm guessing this was for Victoria's Golden Jubilee but I could be wrong (it's happened once before!) however, what else could it be? It's top pictures HM the Queen with her true love matched husband who predeceased her in 1861 which explains his youthful countenance on the tin to Victoria's more than middle aged one. On the sides of the tins you have the then Prince and Princess of Wales (the future Edward VII and his wife Alexandra (Alix) of Denmark) and opposite their son and daughter in law (Victoria's grandson) the Royal Highnesses the Duke of York (the future King George V) and Duchess of York (Queen Mary...notice the choker of diamonds a precursor of things to come). The other two sides have popular poets and society folks of the day Chas. Dickens, Thos. Carlyle, Lord Tennyson, Sir John Millais and Sir Edwin Landseer...and the only bad side that is a bit rubbed has Lord Salisbury...Lord Palmerstone the Duke of Wellington and more. This is just an all around great tin and will take pride of place in any collection...it measures @ 7"x7"x7"...no regrets ..the high bidder will love it! Thanks for looking.
