You are looking at an RARE & UNIQUE JUDAICA ITEM: OLD PALESTINE LARGE SILVER BROOCH designed by ZEEV RABAN THE OUTSTANDING JEWISH PALESTINE ARTIST & BEZALEL TEACHER, (1890-1970), made by YEMINY YICHYE (1896-1983 ) from BEZALEL JERUSALEM. The subject is the MIRIAM - SISTER OF MOSES – SINGING HER SEA VICTORY SONG. Miriam is considered a prophetess , and is traditionally believed to have composed a brief victory song after Pharaoh ’s army was drowned in the Red Sea ( Exodus 15:20-21 ). “Sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously;Horse and rider he has thrown into the sea.” MARKED at the back: Maker's Mark, Yerushalem, Sterling 935. Size: 1 1/2" ( 3.8 cm ) by 2" ( 5 cm ). Condition: Good condition. Raban, Ze'ev, Poland , 1890-1970Zeev Raban (Ravitzki), b. 1890, Lodz , Poland . Immigrated to Palestine : 1912. Studies: 1905 Academy of Art , Munich ; 1907 National Academy , Paris , with Prof. Marcier; from 1912 Bezalel, Jerusalem . Teaching: From 1914 Bezalel, headed the Repousse Department, taught anatomy and composition. 1911 Returned to Poland . 1912 Came to Jerusalem at invitation of Boris Schatz. 1923 founded 'Workshop for Industrial Art' with Meir Gur-Arieh. 1923 book 'Song of Songs', which he designed.
