A beautiful example of a late racecard from the old course at Brocklesby Park in Lincolnshire, covering the meeting held on Saturday 12th April 1930. A six-race card featured The Grimsby Plate over two-and-a-half miles, The Pelham Plate (2 miles), The Riby Selling Steeplechase (2 miles), The Conyers Cup (3 miles), The Brocklesby Handicap Steeplechase (2 miles) and a 3-mile Hunters' Steeplechase. Whilst very much representing a serious meeting held under Rules, everything about this card suggests a sporting country get-together for The Earl of Yarborough and friends. Brocklesby Park closed as an official racecourse in 1935 although Bona-Fide Hunt fixtures continued until the war. The current point-to-point course within the park (well worth a visit if you haven't) is about a mile from the site of the old racecourse. This card has a clean cover and just the usual pencil markings denoting runners. The original holder has also noted his financial performance on a blank page, probably included for that purpose. Both staples are intact with no real trace of rust. This lovely old card will be despatched in a board-backed envelope.
