This is an NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) respirator/ventilator unit for use with certain masks and suits used by RAF/Navy helicopter and jet pilots. I think it is designed to be used by pilots that have ejected and are now on foot - the ventilation unit allows them to move through hostile environments while still having filtered, breathable air. The unit comes with two respirator canisters already fitted, although I cannot say how old these are or whether they are still good enough to be considered useable. When turned on, the unit pulls in air through the filters and passes filtered air out through the attached pipe. The unit is in good condition although has some scrapes and general wear from use. Despite it's size, the unit is quite heavy, hence the postage cost. I don't know a huge amount about the unit but I'd be read more
