This is a vintage Adlake railroad switch lantern. It is complete with four lenses. Two green, two red. All four are without cracks. The orginal kerosene oil holder and wick can be seen in the photos. On top of oil container it reads: use kerosene oil only, the adams & westlake company, New York Philadelphia Chicago. The lenses are marked: optical corning U S 10 Oct 1905. You can see lenses in pics. Also lantern has a tag (see photo) with various dates. The dates start Oct. 1, 1895 and go to Aug. 13, 1907. Then below that it reads: Great Britain Dec. 19, 1906. The last pic. shows the bottom of lantern. You can see w it sat on a square iron footing. The set screw is still in place waiting for you to display this great piece of Americana. T is some paint missing and small amount of rust. The pictures speak for the lanterns condition. Lantern is almost 20" high to top of bailer. About 9 1/2" wide. Bailer comes off for shipping. Lenses are approx. 5" dia. I have not cleaned for fear of jeopardising it's value as a collectable. Weight is 15 pds. without packaging. Questions gladly answered. Thank you for looking.
