Up for your considerationare two volumes of scrapbooks produced by James Hermon French, who retired on July 1, 1901, from his position as superintendent of the New Haven Railroad’s Plymouth division. He had started his career with the Fall River Railroad in 1854 and had spent most of his career with the Old Colony Railroad and its successor, The New Haven Railroad. The first volume is 4 inches x 8 inches, 30 pages and includes columns of relevant railroad articles – many authored by French, himself, neatly pasted in the scrapbook. Articles were published from 1900-1914. The volume is fragile. The second volume is 6 ¾ x 8 ¼ and is inscribed “1919” on the front page with French’s signature. This scrapbook is a bit more significant, as it contains approximately 25 pages with French’s commentary, as well as articles. Several articles are folded into the scrapbook. This is in good condition and is a remarkable historical document. This is a fantastic collection of unique railroad paper. You will not be disappointed and I will pay shipping and insurance.
