RANDALL KNIFE Very Rare 1940’s #1- 8 with Reverse hilt, Heiser Brown Button sheath. A very nice, unrestored Korean war era RANDALL #1-8 “ fighter” with brown-button Heiser sheath. Distinctive is the “reverse curve” on the upper guard or hilt. There are, that I know of, only four knives like this in existence. One is in the RANDALL KNIVES Museum collection, one is unaccounted for, one is the knife available here, and the other knife, with a broken and home-reground tip, sold for $4,500 about 5 to10 years ago. Pete Hamilton, former shop foreman at RANDALL KNIVES lived down the street from me until his death, and we often got together for coffee and to talk about Randall happenings. I have shown this knife to Bob Hunt, Tom Clinton and Pete. The consensus was that this knife dated from 1949 to about 1951. A picture of a similar knife (one of the four) is featured on the cover of Hunt’s book on Randall Wartime Knives. This knife has not been “restored” and is in original condition. It is well sharpened on the true and the false edges. The handle is still firm, and the spacers and leather washers do not turn. The knife does not have excessive signs of sheath carry. The brass colored guard is the correct color and texture. The "Randall Made, Orlando FLA stamp is crisp and deep. The Heiser sheath is in superb condition, with minimal signs of carry. The stitching of the sheath is in the proper color, is tight and ended correctly. Stitching completes the slight bell mouth at the knife insertion. Although the knife has an eight (8) inch blade, the sheath is marked 1-10. The leather embossing is excellent. The brown snaps retain most of the original color, and the closure is firm. The retaining strap is un-cut. The original ( but very used and weakened ) stone, now broken, is included. The stone pouch is firm, unworn, and with good stitching. Foreign buyers will pay actual shipping costs. You must be at least 18 years old to bid on and buy this knife.
