You are bidding on a Bridgeport Brass Co. 1/2" Micrometer. "S. R. Wilmot, then superintendent of the Bridgeport Brass Company, devised the micrometer and had six of them made by a skilled machinist named Hiram Driggs, under the direction of A. D. Laws, who was then in charge of the mechanical department of the Brass Company. The reading of the thousandths of an inch was given by a pointer and a spiral line of the same pitch as the screw, 40 to the inch, running around the cylinder and crossed by a set of 25 lateral, parallel lines. In the early part of 1867, the matter was taken up with J. R. Brown & Sharpe with a view to having them manufacture the gauges. This micrometer appears to be a commorative tool but you be the judge. I was told that Brown & Sharp produced these but have no varification. It is in very good working order. If you have any questions please ask before bidding. Shipping is $3.50 first class mail. International is extra. Payment by Paypal or money order, INTERNATIONAL buyers use PAYPAL ONLY . Due to delivery problems in many countries will only ship overseas if you can insure the item. NY residents add 8.375% sales tax. Please plan to complete sale within three days of auction end .
