From a Great-Grandmothers Boston, Mass. Estate comes this Fantastic pair of 14k Gold Philadelphia eyeglasses! These glasses have the sliding temple arms with the tear drop ring at the end. Designed for a more comfortable fit and they worked well with the wigs worn at the time these glasses date to the early 1800's, probably around 1820. The open ends allowed a cord or ribbon to be tied to the ends and fastened around the head for a more secure fit. No telling what famous historical figure may have worn them!
