This Gorgeous and Rare carved wooden mantle clock accented with Lion's heads was created by E. Ingraham clock co. in the late 1800s. This clock was found at a recent estate sale along with several other antique clocks. (Please view the pictures below). The clock's unique designed case was carved from a Redish Brown wood (Possibly Red Oak ) and stands a impressive 22" tall with a base width of 15 1/2" wide. The all wooden case was carved with a large top piece This piece is totally carved with a stone looking center band and a large head of a Lion at the top. This Lion is holding scrolling Floral leaves in his mouth. On both sides of this top piece are two more Lion's heads that are looking in oposite directions. The beautifully carved sides are also done with more of the lovely carved Floral patterns. The bottom base was created in a terrace style with the center front also having a lovely arrangement of floral designs carved into it. The front of the case has a hinged wood framed access door that has a inlayed clear glass panel that is angled at the top. The glass panel has a elegant Golden reverse mural painting that depicts a frame of flowering plants. The face of the clock is protected behind this glass panel . The face was created on paper and numbered in Black Roman numerals . It also was framed with a Silver metal edge. The hands are also very decorative in design and held in the center with a metal pin. The movement is of the finest quality. It's a key wind (comes with key) and runs for 8 days when fully wound. The movement is operated by a lovely designed golden pendulum that swings below and visible from outside the case. The movement is signed by E. Ingraham clock co as follows " E. INGRAHAM & CO PAT DEC 6 79 NOV 11 79 BRISTOL CONN". The clock runs very good and strikes a chime on the hour. The overall condition is excellent even the case still maintains it's original old patina finish. The paper face appears to have been replaced sometime in the past also the locking clasp for the hinged from door is missing . The clock runs very good, but t is something out of synch in the chiming of the clock. The amount of chimes are not always correct. Since this clock is not totally perfect in operation, I will keep my price very low and will be selling it in a 'as is' condition. Remember this auction is for only 3 days, so place your bids early. Please check my other auctions for more of the estate's antique clocks being sold at this time and the very near future. Buyer to pay shipping costs. Money order or cashiers check for payment. Thanks for viewing.
