Powered by Auction Hawk Rare 1880 Sheffield Ornate hinged Folding Biscuit Box. Victorian Hoof Feet-Pierced Grills-Bark Frame. NO RESERVE! A fabulous hinged and opening fancy biscuit holder. Circa 1880's. Fabulously ornate. A large 9" tall x 11 1/2" wide, English hallmarked elaborate item. Larger then most. Great hoof feet. Typical stylized bark frame. Internal grills slot neatly open and slide down into the center after box is opened. A box identical to this one is featured in the book, "Silver-A Practical Guide to Collecting Silverware and I.D. Hallmarks" by Joel Longford on page 107. A heavy coat of silver Sheffield plate. No dents, dings, initials or repairs. Excellent overall condition. Hinges are perfect. One side grill closes a bit tight and one side is a bit off center. The ornate branch and bark frame is exquisite. Box leans a bit to the left when opened, just a minor adjustment needed.
