NO RESERVE!! Directly from a Southern Maine attic, we are pleased to offer this VERY RARE and EARLY abrasive style pencil sharpener. The "PERFECT PENCIL POINTER" was first patented in the 1890s and came in two different sizes. This labeled example is the larger of the two, measuring 10 1/4". The movable "chuck", w the pencil is inserted, is mounted on a horizontal wooden shaft which allows the pencil point to slide upon a file, tfore sharpening it. The sharpener or pointer is made entirely of wood but for the metal file and metal receptacle for the pencil, which is in the center of the wooden "chuck". Its original paper label is present on the underside of the sharpener and is in good condition. CONDITION : SUPERB, COMPLETE and ORIGINAL throughout including all surfaces .
