RARE 18th C FRENCH VERNIS MARTIN BILLET DOUX ETUI CASE

This is a wonderful old piece. Approx. 5 1/2 inches tall and 3 /4 inch diameter. Rare teal colored vase lacquer with Vernis Marin style paintings of red and multi colored flowers. Interior is natural "faux" natural tortoise shell cylinder. I think it is a French billet doux,,,, used to transport love letters...literal translation of a sweet nature. The letter would be written signed with a wax seal and tied with a tiny ribbon and then gently rolled to fit inside the case. Very discretely delivered to the intended...another wonderful French tradition...They know love! Could be a sewing etuo or a needle case but I am sticking by the billet doux! Some natrual wear to the case, shell is excellent. Very, very hard to find! Payment is due in 7 days. INTERNATIONAL PLEASE EMAIL FOR CORRECT SHIPPING
