THIS ITEM WILL BE POSTED FROM LONDON, UK. RARE 18TH C SAILOR SCRIMSHAW CARVED COCONUT FLASK TREEN I have a good number of interesting antiques for sale this week including some other fine examples of coconut and coquilla nut carving and prisoner of war work so please have a look at my other auctions. Before I get complaints, I know that this isn't strictly speaking treen (as it is made from coconut and not wood) but I think it might appeal to the treen collector as well. This sailor scrimshawed coconut is one of the finest and earliest I have had. I would date it to the 18th Century and although it has been damaged in the past the deep black patina to the shell and the fantastic depth of design, the inn with "Joly Salor" carved into the sign and the lions flanking it, make it a very rare and interesting example. A great piece for the collector of scrimshaw, folk art and coconut carving alike it is offered at a very low start price and with no reserve. Please read down the entire listing for Dimensions, Condition, Postage & Payment Details - most of the information you will need is on this page but please get in touch if you don't find what you are looking for.
