Pictured below is a very rare 18 th century crucifix that would have been used by a Spanish Colonial Woman in the Viceroyalty Peru. We have only seen two others like it, and we posted their pictures below. One is from a New York 1995 auction house catalogue, and the other from the most famous Spanish Colonial silver museum collection in Lima , Peru . T is absolutely no question about its age and authenticity. It is made of sterling quality silver with gold platting; the gold platting is not original to the piece, but t is nothing we can do about that now. Someone decided to remove its original patina and have it platted; oh well... The cross is 3 inches long and weighs 20.5 grams of silver. It is one of those rare pieces you only see once in a blue moon. The cross is missing its Baroque/Rococo style silver tips. They may have been removed to make the cross more modern looking; oh well again... Good luck bidding!
