This is a simply incredible, all original, early Mission tiger oak arm chair or armchair/table combination that is obviously a very rare item as I have never seen one of these before. It is an early piece perhaps as early as 1902 and comes from the heyday of Mission furniture with the likes of Stickley and Roycroft producing their best furniture. The quality of this chair is first class, t are many details to this chair that really show how well it was made and although it only bears the numbers 114 underneath in about four places it must have been made in one of the top shops. This chair comes from the original owners children and they have stated that it was definitely brought from the east coast of the US probably either NY or Maine. It is so amazing that the beautiful backrest swivels very easily up and sits level on its supports to make it a very nice table, the backrest/table top is solid quarter sawn red oak with beautiful tiger striping, the ends of the table have had an insert into each end of the boards to prevent warping of the top and so remains perfectly level, I have a good friend who has been in the antique business for over 30 years and he has never seen a chair like this one! As a chair it is awesome, great Mission style with corbells under the front and back of arms and true thru tenons through the back and front. read more
