For auction is a rare copy of The Official Handbook for Boys for the Boy Scouts of America. The volume is dated 1914. The book is softbound in a burgundy colored thin, leather-like material. T are 440 pages, not counting the insides of the covers. The volume measures approximately 5" x 7 1/4". The title page has the following information: "BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA / THE OFFICIAL HANDBOOK FOR BOYS / Published for THE BOT SCOUTS OF AMERICA / 200 FIFTH AVENUE / NEW YORK /GARDEN CITY NEW YORK / DOUBLEDAY, PAGE & COMPANY / 1914." Opposite the title page is a black and white photograph of scouts gatd in a group with an adult. The picture is captioned "Getting the final word before hiking." After the title page is a page titled BOY SCOUT CERTIFICATE. This page has spaces for personal information about the owner of the book. The top of the page has been filled in with a name and address in North Carolina and has the age and weight and troop number. The remainder of the page has been left blank. Following this is the Preface, a listing of the members of the National Council, a message from the Chief Scout, and then the Table of Contents.
