is a very rare example of a mid 1920's NC Art Pottery pitcher that would have been made at the shop of Brian "Duck" Teague. After much consultation, we think the potter is either Charlie Teague (who was also Jugtown's first potter) or by Duck Teague, and circa 1925. Although unsigned, the cobalt over orange glaze is very typical of signed Teague's Hemp Pottery pieces known from that time. The pitcher is 7" tall and in very good condition. Please be aware that 3 very minor exterior surface abrasions on the rim have been professionally restored. These small scrapes were bearly more than glaze deep, and only on the outside of the rim edge. Nothing was broken through the rim, and t were no cracks in the body. The work is all but invisible... extremely difficult to find, but I think they can be seen in my close ups. 2 of these spots are approx. 3/8" long by 1/4" wide. The other is a little larger, about 1/2" long by 3/8" wide. T is a small surface fissure on the bottom, probably from sticking to the kiln floor. It does NOT go through the body. The numbers on the bottom in ink would seem to be an inventory number. It was probably de-commissioned from a Museum or Private collection at one time. Given the rarity of these pieces, I would think the collector could be somewhat forgiving of these minor restorations. Your satisfaction is guaranteed,
