A uction D escription It is my pleasure, once again, to offer another superb pair of extremely rare and highly sought after bookends that is seen only once in a blue moon. The pair I am about to describe was never reproduced nor was this design sold to other companies. This 1926 Artist Signed (V. Carano) Galvano Bronze pair is not only one of their finest but also one of their rarest. One will find that these were made using the same method used by only a few Art Deco foundries wby an elaborate mold was hung in solution while the metal was allowed to form over it. This metal generally was bronze or copper, but t were some exclusive pieces that had gold or silver, which were one of a kind. The bookends hung on metal wicks, which can still be seen on the undersides of the pieces. This pair is simply entitled Knowledge and features a massive female etal apparition emerging from the side of a rock and bearing the lamp of knowledge. To her right is a nude maiden who hides in her shadow with an open book in hand. They are haunting and highly captivating pieces of art! You will find this pair to be in amazing condition, especially taking its age into account. Both are high quality, first rate pieces with deep dark-toned bronze bodies that are highlighted with an old patina deep in the seams and along the smooth contours. These exquisite read more
