I LOVE TO COMBINE SHIPPING TO SAVE YOU MONEY...never a packing fee...I charge as close to actual shipping as I can get. Attention vintage television collectors and fans around the world.....I have your book! Yes, you are bidding on a very hard to find 1942 book called The Future of Television by the famous technical author Orrin Dunlap, and this book not only has the original dust jacket and is in very nice condition, but it is also SIGNED by Dunlap and inscribed to John Atwater, from whose library it once belonged! A great section on the history of televison, from a 1942 perspective! This is hardback, 194 pages, in very nice shape. are a few chapters: 1. The Speaking Eye Looks Ahead 2. Launching a New Industry 3. Televison in the Home (still a dream in 1942!) 4. Televison Programs that Click 5. Backstage with the Camera 6. Television and the Movies 7. Does Television Threaten the Theater? 8. The Outlook for Sound Broadcasting 9. News Telecasts and Sports 10. A Televison School of the Air 11. Evolution of Television 12. How the Radio Eye Sees Appendix: Historic Steps in Televison List of Commercial Television Stations (t weren't many in 1942!) Great first sentence in the Preface: "Television has been labeled the $30 million if. That is the amount spent on research and development up to 1942. The purpose of this book is to show why and how the "if" will be removed, when a new radio service, which holds promise of becoming a billion-dollar industry, starts growing on the $30 million foundation laid by the pioneers". Interesting! And that is just the first paragraph! You will love this book, and you will love the inscription and signature of the famous author, who wrote books for decades about technical matters. I can honestly say this is a 'one of a kind' with the inscription and autograph, and the fact that it has the original dust jacket is just icing on the cake! A great, great early television book...do you want it?? Check my feedback, bid with confidence! Shipping is $4 in the USA for AIR, or $10 Global Priority AIR to most countries overseas. Check my auctions for great items like this! No Reserve! Cash, check, money order or my favorite, Paypal. Not responsible for items once they leave ..but they make it 99.5% of the time!
