This post World War II (1952) Bristish Army wool greatcoat was unissued and never worn. It is in perfect new condition, no holes, tears, odors, fraying or insect damage. It is double breasted with gold buttons, epaulets, an adjustable 3 button waist belt in the back, a darted vertical center pleat from the shoulders to the waist and a 19" 2 button center vent / kick pleat at the bottom. The upper inside portion is lined with a light wool fabric and inside of the sleeves with a cotton fabric. The front button design shows a rampant lion and a rampant unicorn on either side of a crest. This was manufactured by John Hammond & Co. Ltd. The label shows the fit is for someone 5'5" - 5'6" with a chest size of 36 - 37. I am 5'11" and the length reaches a few in. below my knees, but the waist belt is a little high at my height. The adjustable back waist belt does help dial in the fit. Following are the dimensions: Length = 44", Shoulder seam to shoulder seam = 17", Shoulder seam to end of sleeve = 24", Armpit to end of sleeve = 17" Armpit to armpit = 19", 21" & 21" (based on the button position of the waist belt) Waist = 18", 20" & 20.5" (based on the button position of the waist belt) Hips = 19", 20.5" & 21" (based on the button position of the waist belt) This outstanding vintage heavy weight wool overcoat will appeal to the military collector or would make stylish, unique streetwear. I remember seeing a picture of Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin wearing the same style greatcoat. You just won't find this cool vintage look in this condition.
