Up for auction is an original 11th Special Forces SFOD 132 enamelled badge & SF distinctive insignia. The 1 3/4" tall x 1 5/16" wide clutchback badge is in excellent condition, with only minor darkening to the silvered finish. The badge depicts the 11th SFG flash, with a parachute, winged green beret skull, and V42 dagger superimposed. The Latin motto "Esse Viride Non Est Facile" is inscribed across the lower margin of the insignia, and the unit designation SFOD (special forces operational detachment alpha) 132 across the top. The 11th SFG was operational from 1968-1995, with it's headquarters in Fort Meade. I am was unable to find any info on SFOD 132, although t is an ODA 132 of the 1st SF that is currently active. The winged skull design is borrowed from a SOG recon team insignia. I am unsure if this is a "party suit" novelty badge, or maybe an unofficial pocket insignia. The two pieces were obtained from the same vet. The Special Forces A team has only 12 members, so I'm sure that only a handful of these were manufactured. A super rare & attractive badge for your Special Forces collection. Satisfaction guaranteed, 3 day inspection will be provided. Shipping will be $4 for US buyers.
