We're back! We have spent the last few months building and restocking our inventory. We know you're all going to be very pleased and excited at the new offerings that we'll be listing on Ebay. Up for auction is this very fine rare old Northwest Coast Tlingit or Haida painted alder wood feast spoon dating from the late 1800's. The spoon measures a large size of 9 1/2" in length and 2 3/4" across the bowl and is in fine condition. The crest design is painted in vermilion red and black and is a raven representation. Provenance James Garner collection. Though these spoon are hard to pin point exact tribal location as similar shaped feast spoons were used by all the Northwest Coast tribes including the Haida and Tsimshian tribes to spoon fish or seal oil during feasting ceremonies or given away at potlatch gifts. The painted design spoons being some of the most valued and prized. This is a very fine example, perfectly formed with graceful shape and an amazingly thin bowl.
