The bangle is about 2 inches by 2-1/4 inches wide from inside. 1 carats of natural diamonds. 22kt yellow gold. Weighs about 52.85 grams. Studded with 100% geniune, natural, earth-mined gems. These jewels were always made in 22-23kt pure gold and ornated/enamelled all over. T is an interesting history behind these. During the rule of Mogul kings, skilled artisans were permanently hired by the king to make jewels only for the Royal family. Any adulteration of gold (making of 18kt or 14kt gold by adding impurities in 22-24kt gold) was against king's wishes & considered un-holy, hence only 22-23kt pure gold was used. Since the artisans were well paid and taken care of in every way, and with no binding to produce several items but only beautiful items, so they had all the time to produce just one single piece. So they started putting carvings all over the 22kt/23kt gold pieces, even at the back and then enamelling them with brilliant red/green/blue colors. Now such jewelry does not carry any 22/23kt gold stamping as it is enamelled all over. However a very technical aspect is, if the jewelry was made in less than 22kt pure gold, this enamelling would not be durable with time and would come off. It sticks permanently only on 22kt/23kt pure gold........ Thanks for reading this. If you value exceptional taste in antique & vintage jewelry, then please our other auctions .
