RARE 3 BACKSPRING # 42109 CATTARAUGUS BALLOON CATTLE KNIFE WITH FULL ETCH. This is RARE and hard to find early model Cattaraugus 4 Blade Balloon Cattle knife Model #42109. This is a BIG, WIDE massive knife although it is only 3 5/8" long. The blades have the old arched Cattaraugus tang stamping on all blades. The blades have never been sharpened, are full length, full width and have monster snaps both ways with full, solid half stops. They all have factory mirror finish and the master blade has the orginal owners name etched in script. This was an option with all the "Golden Era" knife companies. The knife has 4 nickle silver liners, nickle silver pins, nickle silver bolsters and nickle silver shield. The beautiful Cattaraugus wormgroove bone handles are chip and crack free, match perfectly and show no pocket wear at all. The inside liners and backsprings are clean and even have orginal shine to them. Now for the bad news....The pin on the master blade and sheepsfoot blade (right end) has sheered at some time and the 2 1/2 " sheepsfoot blade came loose and got lost. Its a shame the blade got lost because all it needed was to just be re-pinned...t is no damage to bolsters, liners and springs are flawless & undamaged.
