48" ("life-sized") heavy board Shirley Temple display standee for Cinderella Frocks, made and used in Great Britain circa 1937. She is pictured in several British pressbooks as available for rental at the time. She's wearing an authentic taffeta Shirley Temple Cinderella dress of the 1936-1937 era, complete with its hangtag. Her arms are removable to make it easier to dress; they also shift posiion on eye bolts so she can hold her skirt out for that perfect Shirley pose. T's a slot at the bottom to display changeable cardboard slips advertising the current Shirley movie (in this case, Captain January).
Condition is excellent with very minor wear. Shirley was used and stored very carefully, it seems. She has all-original paint with light facial tinting (this is basically a large mounted photo composite as opposed to a printed piece). Her white "underwear" was been painted on over the photo composite and is 100% original. Her stand is in place as when produced. No breaks, tears or gashes in the finish--just great. The dress is also excellent with all trim, back buttons and cloth tag in the neckline as well as the cardboard tag.
Large, vintage display pieces are getting harder and harder to find, especially those produced overseas. How our gal survived WWII at all is amazing. She would make a fantastic central display item in a Shirley Temple collection. I have to let her go due to a major computer overhaul; it was a hard decision to make. I hope that someone else will enjoy owning and admiring her!
