Extremely rare Mid-century Italian Murano Glass water bird sculpture designed and manufactured by Alfredo Barbini. It is known as "Svazzo" bird and a photo from an old Weil Glass catalog is provided for reference. The winning bidder will receive a copy of the document. These sculptures were produced in four different sizes with the smallest one being 10" (25 cm) high and the largest 16" (40.5 cm). The model you are looking at stands 12.5" (31 cm) tall. The sculpture is made of several layers of glass and the design speaks of superb craftsmanship. T are gold fleck applications on the beak, hair dress and the feet and the blue and white striped body has gold fleck within. The glass is in excellent condition, without signs of damage or repair but t is an unusual irregularity I like to point out. Within the clear casing a line runs from underneath the belly to both wings forming a semi circle and I believe it is either the outline of a huge bubble that had formed during manufacture or an inside stress crack. T is no indication the glass on the outside is affected, it is perfectly smooth. Photos are attached for reference but please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns. The figurine will make a beautiful display piece for Italian glass as well as bird collectors. Part of the original "Weil Glass" sticker is still attached. Shipping charges are based on 8 lbs packaged weight. The bird itself weighs 4.5 lbs. International bidders are welcome. Wir sprechen Deutsch. Thank You very much for interest and Good Luck bidding.
