Folks, ....we have at auction a very rare and desirable item from the American Brilliant Period of Cut Glass. The Alhambra Pattern is very collectable and a number of prominent collections are centered around this rare pattern. The Alhambra pattern, sometimes known as 'Greek Key', was designed by Thomas A. Shankey for the Meridan Cut Glass Co. of Meriden, Ct and patented on Jan. 17, 1911. One of the few patterns that is named after a specific place. The Alhambra Castle in Spain is noted for the greek key design on it's outside and by their lace curtains depicted on the lower portion of the pattern. We are offering a cruet in Alhambra at 9 1/2 inches in height with the original stopper. The cruet is in supurb condition executed on the highest quality blank. It has nary a chip, crack or any imperfection. The piece is free of any cloudiness inside. You will see the base and the spotless insides and also an image of the handle seal and the spout. Both perfect. The six images including a page from Pearson's book American Cut Glass Collections (page 18) showing examples of Alhambra pieces that include this cruet.
