NATIVE AMERICAN BASKET DESCRIPTION: Presented tonight is a NATIVE AMERICAN BASKET from my personal collection. In my many years of collecting, I have never seen another basket like this one. Ornately constructed from splint, its unique form strongly resembles a purse or handbag having three distinct and detailed weave patterns. The bottom section is a basketweave pattern; the middle section a pattern of tightly woven fine splint; the top section a pattern of curlycue "ribbon". The top of the basket is accented with a band of overlapping splint "loops". The two handles are wrapped. In excellent condition, this is truly a RARE FIND and an EXCEPTIONAL EXAMPLE OF NORTH AMERICAN BASKETRY. DIMENSIONS: 11 " tall, 9 1/2" long, 1 3/4" wide at bottom, 4" wide at top CONDITION: PLEASE NOTE: Multiple views of the BASKET have been provided to allow an opportunity for accurate assessment of the condition .
