Such a neat ambrotype. I found out that the difference between an ambrotype and a daguerreotype is that if you look into a daguerreotype it's like a mirror. You can see yourself. This if such a fantastic and historical scene. It,makes you feel you are back in time.It is a street scene. Several Ladies and Gents.T is also a child. They are in front of cafe sittng outside and have very old clothing on. Now, the ambrotype has a 12 cent stamp in the right corner. It also has a roman looking person on the stamp. Not sure why but it's t Now I do. I just read about the tax stamp. It was enforced to produce revenue in 1864. It was repealed in 1866. So this is how you can date you ambrotype. It has an RP and Postes. This may be European but not sure. Next to the stamp someone has scratched it, and t are a few little spots that have been removed. Not very noticeable. Just mainly the one by the top of the stamp. T is hot glue at the top and bottom of the picture. Looks fine from the front side. Doesn't show at all. It has a sticker on the back of the frame that says something Denbrook Studio Maine. It also has a modern metal hanger. The frame is put together by metal L shaped brackets in each corner. Very Solid. The picture is on the back side and the front you can touch and not harm it. It is glass. The back will scratch off. So handle with care. I believe this to be very valuable as I haven't seen any old ones like this so large. If you have any questions just email me. I'm starting out low for this kind of item so good luck and hope you check my other auctions. Winning bidder please email me before paying...Thanks and Have a Great Day
