I am offering for your consideration at Auction, a collection of 6 wonderful blown glass, Bristol Rolling Pins . These pins would date from the mid to late 1800's. T are 2 milk glass, 3 cobalt, (1 with an unusual Union Jack with the French Flag) and 1 RARE GREEN pin, very seldom seen on eBay or anyw else. #1 - Milk Glass Pin 17 3/4" long, 2 3/4" diameter. This hand painted Rolling Pin appears to depict a Sailor returning home well to his waiting family. On the right is a sailor holding 1 child, while another grabs at his trousers, and a daughter is hugging them, while his wife is holding an infant. NO CRACKS, CHIPS, OR BREAKS. The left half of this pin has a verse (which is mostly gone) The middle would also have had a verse. These pins were often purchased by sailors on voyages to England, and brought back as keepsakes for loved ones. They were usually used for what they were intended, baking, and during that process would lose a great deal of their paint. #2 - Milk Glass Pin 17" long, 2 1/2" in diameter. This pin depicts a Sailing Ship on the left, a verse in the middle and a Compass on the right (behind the compass is another ship and under the compass is the verse "Come Box The Compass"). Paint is missing as usual and customary. NO CRACKS, CHIPS, OR BREAKS. #3 - Cobalt Pin 15 3/4" long, 2 1/2" diameter. This pin is not decorated. NO CRACKS, CHIPS, OR BREAKS. #4 - RARE GREEN pin 14 1/2" long, 2 1/4" diameter. This pin is decorated with flowers. This is a very rare color in bristol blown glass pins, and very seldom seen on eBay or anyw else. NO CRACKS, CHIPS, OR BREAKS. #5 - Cobalt Pin 14 3/4" long, 2 1/4" diameter. This is also a rather unusual and hard to find pin that usually sells in excess of $100.00. This pin depicts a Union Jack alongside a French Flag and the verse in the middle reads " My own dear Girl ". NO CRACKS, CHIPS, OR BREAKS. #6 - Cobalt pin 14 1/4" long, 2 1/4" diameter. This pin is undecorated. NO CRACKS, CHIPS, OR BREAKS. Condition and Paint Loss is as seen in the photos. All of these pins are guaranteed Antique and hand blown with a broken pontil on one end. Some people believe that the pins would be filled with cold water and a cork put in the pontil end. I feel a careful examination of the attached photos, should allow any prospective bidder to draw his or her own conclusions. If you have any reservations, Please do not bid.
